GAIT ANALYSIS
Gait analysis is the systematic study of human motion, using the eye and the brain of observers, augmented by instrumentation for measuring body movements, body mechanics, and the activity of the muscles.

Gait analysis is used to assess and treat individuals with conditions affecting their ability to walk. It is also commonly used in sports bio-mechanics to help athletes run more efficiently and to identify posture-related or movement-related problems in people with injuries.

The study encompasses quantification (i.e. introduction and analysis of measurable parameters of gaits), as well as interpretation, i.e. drawing various conclusions about the animal (health, age, size, weight, speed etc.) from its gait pattern.
GAIT ANALYSIS CAN HELP WITH:
-
Injury Prevention
-
Better Speed
-
Pelvic Instability
-
Excessive Pronation
-
Anterior Pelvic Tilt
-
More Flexibility, Strength and Better Posture
-
Over Striding, Wrong Landing and Imbalances
-
Joint Assessment
-
Efficient Running Mechanics
-
Better Running Form
-
Co-Ordination Difficulties

WHAT YOU GET WITH GAIT ANALYSIS
Gait Analysis is a tool used to gain insight into one’s movement patterns specific to walking or running. The benefits of Gait Analysis are that it can be very helpful in identifying overactive/under-active muscles, potential injuries, and inefficiencies.
If you suffer from pain in knee/ankle/hip or lower back during or after a long walk or run there are things you are doing wrong mechanically. The first thing people do is take loads of painkillers and apply deep heat/ice to reduce the pain and inflammation and take rest while the pain goes. After a week of rest the pain disappears and we dare to run again. But experience the similar pain and feel gutted and think about giving up running or long walks. We are just treating the symptoms by medication however the root cause of the pain still remains the same.

Here is what we do at Body in Motion Clinic. An hour session includes:

1. ANALYZING STANDING/STATIC POSTURE: The physio carries out a thorough assessment in standing looking at every potential cause of injury from the toes to the shoulder.

2. ANALYZING YOUR RUNNING TECHNIQUE: We will make you step up on a treadmill and record you running/walking from various angle using our special 4K high resolution camera at 60fps. We will then share the video with Kinovea software and break it down into slow motion and go through possible faulty mechanism you might be doing reaching the root cause of the problem.

The Physio will give you detailed explanation of the method using simple physics and bio-mechanics during this session.

3. DIAGNOSING AND TREATING THE INJURY: We will then look into the injured/inflamed/painful site and treat it with physiotherapy

4. RUNNING TECHNIQUE CORRECTION: At the end we will make you step on the treadmill again and make you run with our technique.
